See the FAQ to learn how to speak in fancy. Oh yeah, and there's a rule too.

Frequently asked questions that nobody actually asked, but whatever, you're just here for the answers.

Rules?

 1. This is a board about ponies, for ponies, by ponies. i wish Not /b/, not /pol/, not /yourblog/.
 2. Using a name and/or tripcode is allowed only when posting OC or in roleplay threads.

Embedding?

Any YouTube link should work in the place of an image, e.g.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z7UnO66q9w or youtu.be/VoOW1Vvl2oU or cqCxWrWtCqM

Cross-board links?

>>>/poni/ >>>/poni/1

Fancy text?

bold
italic
underline
[-]strikethrough[/-]
[s]spoiler[/s] or
spoiler
Dicerolls: [d20] or [2d6] or [d100+100]

Best pony?

Seems like spoilered images don't work, probably because a spoiler thumbnail isn't set. On my screen it just shows no image, although it has the image text.

Fixed, thanks for the heads up. Not sure why I didn't see the problem though. I didn't see the problem because the theme I was using overrides the thumbnail size (which is kind of fucking retarded)

Why the fuck are basic QoL features still absent from the site for months.
>webm support with audio
>still no image hovering

 No.51

>>50
Because no-one asked. Also I'm lazy. See >>6.

Hover is now available in options. Audio should work, though I guess I only tested with mp4 (>>10)
Edit: >>52 works fine. Dunno what you mean.

 No.56

>>51
I was pointing out that there is webm support but no image hovering (which much more commonly used) is why I brought it up, poor priorities. Like how the site updating is held together with twine and can lag by a full day before updating replies right, leaving people to think their posts were deleted.

Here's some more basic QoL missing from poni.fun
>Catalog, but cant search for anything in it
>Threads and replies, but cant hide any one of them
>Can't upload from the clipboard, have to save a file first. This is under "drag and drop files"
>No IP count on threads
>No current page indictator in a thread, or on the catelog
>Expand all images, but no gallery mode
>Can't filter anything, one of the key self-moderation tools for shitposters and attention whores
>No tree view option, or inlining
>Can add a file, but can't easily remove them if it's not supported (too big ect) or just change your mind.

More uncommon QoL
Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

I seriously hope you guys don't plan this.

>logs still not public

 No.53

I really like how you're ignoring this. Totally unlike the moderation on /mlp/!

 No.54

Oh yeah, I forgot to look into what the OP even meant. I was not aware public logs are a thing.
(Which boards even have logs enabled? On a quick glance, /pone/, mlpol and ponychan don't seem to.)

>Which boards even have logs enabled?
Unironically /mlp/ to some extent.
mlpol has logs enabled, although that means little because the page returns an error. But they also have this https://mlpol.net/bans.html

But why does it matter how other websites do it, if you're trying to claim you're better in moderation department than all of them?

Namefagging on boards that don't take too kindly to it (like /mlp/ and this one I guess) honestly seems to work against that goal.

Which is why I would like to work something out with you guys like maybe I can have a username and trip and we all just treat it as if it doesn't exist.

You're looking for ponychan. This is a spiritual successor to 4chan that started on /mlpol/, not Equestria Daily in board format.

Someone's been going around anonymously without an admin flag, and telling everyone that we're not allowed to use names or tripcodes. I figure they're just being a power tripping entitled asshole, but I want to make sure of this.

How about these rules, regarding posters using names?

1. Using names is allowed.
2. Using tripcodes is allowed.
3. Being anon is allowed.
4. Talking about people's names is off topic so not allowed.
5. Threads whose topic is to talk about people's names should be on /meta/.
6. Using avatars is only allowed if the image is on topic for the thread. (i.e. roleplaying threads)
7. Lying about the rules of the site to make people do what you want is a tacit agreement to be mocked and laughed at.

Okay so maybe those are pretty terrible rules, but I'd like to know what the rules are with regard to names and tripcodes, so I know whether to apologize and promise to obey them.

If there are no rules except rule 0, I'd like to know that too, so I can continue to laugh at the guy claiming I have to be anon or else I'm oppressing his people.

Sorry, but anonymity is a pretty crucial part of how an imageboard works.

To lay down some formal rules:
1. Names are allowed only for posting OC or roleplaying.
2. Tripcodes are allowed in the same situations as names.
3. Avatarfagging is allowed in the same situations as names and tripcodes.

 No.35

You could argue that gratuitous namefagging falls under the /yourblog/ part. But I did write the rule(s) expecting them to be replaced with something more precise (although I'm not a fan of codifying common sense).

The current practice is to give a warning, and if that doesn't help a temporary block on using a name is given.

The site is up and running, but I'm still considering alternatives for board software. Frankly because I'm not fond of PHP, though I'm not ruling it out either.

I'll look into what's on this list:
https://github.com/kennell/imageboards
I think that covers most actively developed boards, but if there are others do suggest them.

 No.11

The catalog is pretty wonky, not updating post counts or showing threads in order

Blame the admin who's too dumb to tick a checkbox.

 No.13

>tested and popular imageboard software
>not written in PHP
pick one and only one

>10 threads per page

why not regular 15?

 No.14

>>13
It does seem none of the alternatives are very mature. Oh well.

Because having more pages makes the site seem bigger. Nah, 10 is actually the tinyboard/vichan default. I was meaning to increase it, and possibly lower the amount of posts shown to 3.

Sure. This is the sort of basic feature I talked about in >>>/poni/6.

While I could just enable everything in /js at once, I'm hesitant to do so without checking whether all of them are useful.1
